Lexar Media Echo SE and ZE Drives Revealed

Small Thumbdrives Let You Backup Notebook Data

Lexar-Media-Echo

The storage experts at Lexar have developed a new system for backing up your notebook’s files while you’re on the move. Enter the Lexar Media Echo SE and ZE thumb drives. They’re small portable thumb drives (barely bigger than 1 centimeter) that help you back up your files on the go.

Once the thumb drive is plugged in to your notebook, software will automatically take a daily image of whatever critical data you need and export it to the thumb drive. If you have a hard drive failure, your data is backed up to the thumb drive. Obviously, as far as backup solutions go, it’s about as “on-site” as it gets – but it’ll protect against hardware failures.

The SE models will come with 8GB, 16GB and 32GB, while the ZE models will come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. No pricing yet for these – got to wonder how much of a premium Lexar’s backup software will add. The United States will be getting these devices next month while Europe will be getting them – just later on.
