ICD Ultra Android Tablet Gets Official

2010 already seems to be the year of the tablet and of the eBook reader. Today we have one more tablet or slate for you. This time it’s made by ICD in collaboration with NVIDIA, Motorola and Verizon.
It looks like ICD has been working on a 7-inch Android tablet for Verizon which is going to offer some very hot specs like NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 chipset and a Motorola 4G modem capable of dealing with fast LTE connectivity. Sure Verizon is a long way from launching an LTE device but the carrier wants to start offering the new communication standard by the end of the year in 25 to 30 U.S. markets.
Naturally the ICD Ultra, the tablet in the image above, should be available in stores later this year, as long as Verizon does its job and starts offering LTE connectivity as initially stated.
Just earlier today we showed you the new Tegra 2 chipset from NVIDIA and one thing is very clear, the new chipset will be able to do some extraordinary things. Tegra 2-powered tablets should be capable of delivering lots of features while you’re on the go. Couple all those Tegra 2 features with Android OS, add an LTE modem and you’ll get a very fast, very capable device ready to help you communicate with others, browse the web and enjoy full HD content.
Other features include Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity which means you’ll be able to connect your ICD Ultra to other devices and Wi-Fi hotspots. The battery should last for up to 4 hours on a single charge which might not be enough for most people.
That’s what the ICD Ultra should do for you but that’s all theory for now. We’ll be waiting for Verizon to finish LTE deployment in the United States before we’ll see this product in stores. No pricing details or actual availability dates have been announced at this time as Verizon will launch the device only later this year.
