Dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon 8X72 Processor Due Late 2010 [1.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 8X50A Chipset to Be Released First]

In the last few years Qualcomm have outfoxed some of the big players and have consolidated their name even more in the mobile phone industry, as their high-end 1GHz Snapdragon processor has proved to be extremely fast for a smartphone — hence why more and more manufacturers have considered one for their handsets. That however doesn’t mean they’re resting on their laurels, as we just caught wind that at least two more versions of Snapdragon are in the works — raising the barto up to 1.5GHz, and should be released on the market sometime in late 2010.
The 1GHz Snapdragon processor is now proving its muscle inside of the newly announced Google Nexus One or T-Mobiles US exclusive HTC HD2 or the Android-powered Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 — and it does a great job.
But thinking that Qualcomm will introduce the 1.3GHz Snapdragon 8X50A chipset next year, working on the 45nm technology, it somehow takes away all the joy of the 1GHz model. And did we mention anything about a dual-core Snapdragon 8X72 that packs twin 1.5GHz Scorpion cores and does full HD 1080p video, making it suitable for both high-end smartphone and smart-books?
Really anxious to see what the new chipsets can do. Qualcomm … we want! Badly!
