If you’re in the market for a new, compact point and shoot digital camera that offers 720p HD movie recording capabilities Casio hope to tempt you with their newly unveiled Casio Exilim EX-Z2000 digital camera.

The 14.1 megapixel Casio Exilim EX-Z2000, which is powered by Casio’s newly EXILIM Engine 5.0, comes with a 5x optical zoom lens offering 26mm wide angle (great for capturing expansive landscapes and so forth) as well as macro capabilities (enabling you to focus down to just 5cm distance) whilst boasting apertures between f/2.8 to f/6.5 and, as you’d expect from any point and shoot compact camera worth its salt, comes with a plethora of scene modes designed to help you cut to the case and capture imagery using the best settings for any given scene with the minimum of fuss. And, yes, in terms of capturing video, there is a YouTube mode.
Interestingly, there’s also a makeup mode which, when accessed via a dedicated button, will act to flatter your subjects when taking portraits by soothing skin tones and softening shadows.

The Casio Exilim EX-Z2000 additionally sports Sensor-shift image stabilization, Multi-pattern, center weighted and spot metering, ISO sensitivity ranging from 64 to 3200 (equivalent) whilst, on the rear, you’ll be greeted by a 3” 460,800 dot resolution LCD to assist in framing content (there’s no viewfinder).
Casio are yet to confirm either the release date or pricing of the Casio Exilim EX-Z2000 which, when it does hit the shelves, will come in a range of colors taking in Silver, Black, Red, Violet and, of course, Pink.
