It’s not a secret anymore that Apple will launch a tablet later this month. We have showed you all the Apple tablet-related rumors and leaks for a while now without being able to confirm any of them. With 20 more days to go until Apple’s upcoming event, we hear new things about Apple’s strategies and practices regarding its products.

I have always believed that most rumors and leaks that appear in the tech world are generated and controlled by the companies behind the products in question. Some companies are better at this game while others aren’t. That doesn’t mean that accidental leaks do not occur. But the fact is that if a company wants to keep things secret, it will certainly manage to do so.

Apple seems to be one of those companies that can think outside the box when it comes to keeping secrets and leaking out precious information. According to a former Apple marketing manager, Cupertino is very much aware about what people are saying about its upcoming products. In fact, some of the stuff that gets leaked comes straight from Apple executives.

How does it all work you ask? Well you need a company executive that needs to release certain info regarding a specific product. Then you’d need a prolific person from a major media corporation that will tell the story. Setup a telephone conversation or a live meeting and you’ll have the leak you need to generate buzz on the blogs and panic at the home base of your enemies.

It’s not actual war since nobody has actual guns to play with. But the mind games, the manipulation and the needed resources to control how information travels are all there. Intelligence and counter-intelligence are precious assets at this point and I can’t say I don’t understand it. In the end we’re talking about products that the competition doesn’t have and that could bring in lots of cash for the company controlling the leaks.

In this case we’re talking about Apple and its tablet. Do we already know a lot about it or did Apple make us all believe we know a lot about the tablet?
