QNAP Adds To Turbo NAS Line

QNAP has unleashed a new line of Turbo NAS devices, and some of them are serious hardware. They’re adding four new ‘professional’ performance NAS devices, which QNAP promises aim for the ‘ultra-high-end’ market. All four new NAS devices are compatible with VMware’s ESX 4.0 virtualization platform, which is used in enterprise file sharing, storage and servers.
In case you weren’t sick about reading about the mountains of new netbooks that are coming with Intel’s new Pine Trail processors, here’s a new one – QNAP has thrown the Intel Atom D510 into their Turbo NAS devices. The Atom D510 is apart of the Pine Trail family – but we’ve got yet to see it in any new computers as it’s optimized for nettops (thin client desktops, or netbooks + desktops).
The Turbo NAS uses its own dedicated processor for performance and concurrent tasks. “QNAP’s new Business Series Turbo NAS servers really mean business,” QNAP’s president said in a press release – and when your NAS device comes with its own processor, they aren’t joking around.
The two-bay TS-259 Pro goes for $599 while the impressive eight-bay TS-859 Pro (featured above) goes for $1,499. QNAP will be showing off the devices at CES, and they’ll go on sale in mid-January.
