The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched Distraction.gov, a website that teaches you about the dangers of using your electronic gadgets while driving a car. The site is chock full of stats about the dangers of texting while driving, and legal warnings.

The site makes such claims like ‘over 5,000 people were killed and another 515,000 injured in accidents involving mobile phones.’ They also claim that you lose 37% of your brain activity for driving when talking on the phone. They even go as far to say that driver who’s got the T-Mobile Sidekick out while driving is as dangerous as a drunk driver.

In addition to scary warnings, the site also features some info about which US states have banned texting while driving, and which ones have banned hand held cell phones all together in cars. It also has a few YouTube clips, including one disguised like a cell phone commercial. No matter your opinion on texting while driving, it’s likely that Distraction.gov will do little to curb the issue.
