SmartQ V5 HD MID Launched In China

The SmartQ V5 MID, originally announced sometime ago as the SmartV 5 has made its grand debut in China. It’s the lower-end counterpart to the SmartQ V7 MID. If you’re in the market for a MID, it’s not a bad device.
The SmartQ V5 features a 4.3-inch touchscreen, a ARM processor clocked at 600MHz, 256MB of RAM, 2GB of on board storage, and an SD slot. The MID is capable of HD playback, and features an HDMI-out port for playback on bigger displays. Strangely enough, the SmartQ V5 can run three different operating systems, Ubuntu, Android, and Windows CE 6.0 – and comes pre-installed with all three from the factory.
The V5 is currently selling in China for 元1099 ($161). No word on a North America/European release, and it’s probably unlikely, however, some tech importers are reportedly offering the V5. Check your favorite Chinese importer if you’re interested.
