Catalog company Hammacher Schlemmer is offering “The Picture Scanning Digital Photo Frame”, a small digital photo frame that as a vending machine style slot that will scan your pictures and automatically add them right to the internal memory of the Digital Photo Frame. As for the photo frame itself, it features a 8-inch LCD display.

Hammacher Schlemmer’s website promises that the slot-loading scanner is “as [easy] as feeding bills into a vending machine.” The scanner itself scans at 300-dpi and transforms the pictures into .JPG format. The photo frame has internal storage of 1GB.

Like most digital photo frames these days, it can double as a stationary PMP as it can also play MPEGs and MP3s. Other features like a Calendar and Alarm Clock are also thrown in. Data can be transfered to the frame via a SD card slot, USB thumb drive, or even directly from computer to frame via a USB transfer cable (compatible with Windows XP and later, as well as Mac OS X). For interested parties, the “Picture Scanning Digital Photo Frame” is now shipping and will set you back $200.
