Cowon V5 HD PMP Revealed

South Korea’s Cowon is best known for their PMP’s, and their latest keeps up the fine tradition. The Cowon V5 HD will sport a large 4.8″ Screen and will be capable of HD video playback. It’ll run Windows CE and in addition to playing movies and music, it will be able to run some apps too.
Cowon proudly says that the Cowon V5 HD will be able to play H.264 HD video, up to 720p resolution. An included HDMI output will let you play your HD videos on a larger display, if you wish. The Windows CE OS will let users run a handful of apps, including a calendar, alarm clock, calculator, notepad, and even Flash games.
Cowon is offering the V5 HD in three different flavors, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB, with the 8GB starting at 원299,000 ($254). Cowon imagines the V5 HD will bring in “a new standard for HD mobile video viewing”. The V5 HD is a nice unit, but it’s unlikely that it will come anywhere outside South Korea. The menus are in English, so you may wish to try your luck with an importer. As for the lucky South Koreans, the Cowon V5 HD will be in stories starting January 1st.
