As you already know netbooks are getting smarter and smarter these days, with all this hype around Intel’s latest Pinetrail architecture for their new Atom processors. Speaking of which, here’s a new batch of devices to use the aforementioned CPU and its integrated graphics, coming from the MSI stables — the new MSI U130 and th MSI U135 models which are supposedly the first netbooks to achieve international WiMAX Forum certification.

Promising 15-percent better battery life and 10-percent more performance, the Taiwanese computer manufacturer has included the Intel Atom N450 processor in both models. Other than that, they both pack a 10-inch LED-backlit display (1,024×600 resolution), either a 160GB or a 250GB 2.5-inch hard drive, a 1.3 megapixel camera, a four-in-one card reader, a new chiclet keyboard and a touch pad with a 20 per cent larger surface area. There’s also Wireless (802.11n) and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, along with optional 3.5G WiMAX.

Price wise MSI Wind U130 should sell for some £229 in Snow White and Brilliant Black, while the MSI U135 is available in Sterling Silver, Brilliant Black, Midnight Blue and Cherry Red and goes for £279.
