MSI Debuts Intel Pine Trail Powered Netbooks

Not to be outdone by Dell, MSI has revealed its own netbooks to run the Intel Pine Trail processors announced this morning. The new MSI Wind netbooks will extend battery life by taking advantage of Pine Trail’s more efficient power consumption.
The MSI Wind netbooks will run the Intel N450 processor, capable of 1.66GHz clock speed but significantly lower power consumption than its predecessor. With that, the new MSI Wind netbook’s selling point is its battery life, about 15% greater than previous models. Beyond battery life, the new MSI Wind gets an updated trackpad and slight design upgrade.
The new MSI Wind will come in two models, differentiated by storage and color. The MSI Wind U130 will feature a 160GB HDD, available in “snow white” and “brilliant black”. The MSI Wind U135 will carry 250GB of storage, available in “sterling silver”, “brilliant black”, “midnight blue” and “cherry red”. Both will feature 10-inch LED backlit screens with 1,024 x 600 pixels, a 1.3MP webcap, stereo speakers and a range of connectivity from 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth to 3.5G WiMax.
The upgraded MSI Wind netbook computers are expected to ship in January at $368 for the U130, $448 for the U135.
