McDonalds Confirm Free Wi-Fi Access Availability [McDonalds to Drop Wi-Fi Charges from January]

By way of a brief heads up for those of you who like to take in a little net surfing or to pick up your mails whilst tucking into a quarter pounder at McDonalds as McDonalds have now confirmed that they will be dropping the charge for Wi-Fi access at all its Wi-Fi enabled joints with free Wi-Fi access set to rollout from January of next year.
Presently costing you some $2.95 for two hours Wi-Fi access, McDonalds are set to rescind the charge at its 11,000 restaurants that presently offer Wi-Fi access which will see the burger chain fall I line with the likes of Starbucks who’ve offered free Wi-Fi net access to its customers for some considerable time now.
There’s no official word from either McDonalds or AT&T concerning AT&T’s take on the soon to be free Wi-Fi access – McDonalds Wi-Fi access is provided in partnership with AT&T – as, up until now, AT&T have stood to profit financially from the partnership. McDonald’s USA Chief Information Officer David Grooms, who confirmed that McDonalds will indeed offer free Wi-Fi access from January, refused to be drawn on the financial details but we suspect its going to be left to Ronald to flash the plastic and pick up the tab.
