Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 Release Delayed [Android Xperia X2 1GHz Snapdragon Touting Smartphone Now Set to Hit 2010]

Sony Ericsson have officially confirmed that the much hyped Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 is set to see a delayed release with the Xperia X2 now set to release in the first week of January 2010.
According to Sony Ericsson, the delay in the Xperia X2’s release is due to SE trying to resolve some issues with ‘network specific apps’ as well as ‘minor tweaks’ – two of which are concerning extending the Xperia X2’s battery life whilst another is named as being a software speed issue.
Sony Ericsson’s full release concerning the delayed release of the Xperia X2 is as follows:
“Over the last couple of weeks there has been a few, OK more than a few rumours that the X2 is going to be delayed until January and I’m sure it will not come as a surprise when we say that these are well founded.
The software worked fine but when we started integrating it with some of the network specific apps it threw up a few issues which we’re working to fix.
It’s all minor tweaks really (extending the battery life and speeding up aspects of the software), but we want to be sure that when we ship this it is as good as it should be and that you don’t have to constantly upgrade the software as we iron out these wrinkles.
So… we’re launching first week of January. Really sorry if you were looking forward to getting hold of one before then but it will be worth it when we get there.”
So, if you’re been anxiously awaiting the release of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 you’ll need to hold out just that little bit longer as SE tweak the handset. Still, we suspect that few would argue that its best to get any such issues fixed now, prior to release, rather than working to fix an already released handset via over the air updates (I think we’ve seen that happen just a little too much of late).
