Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness Released [New Phone Targets Upper-Class Market Niche, Not Many Features]

Sony Ericsson, in cooperation with Saks Fifth Avenue luxury department store, has released the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness, a simple phone for the upper-class elite crowd. Other than a cool new screen, the phone offers little in the way of actual tech features, but does include a 24-hour concierge service.
The Xperia Pureness features a slim, sleek design, and the real attraction here for the blog-reading crowd is the transparent LCD screen, which Sony claims is the world’s first such screen. Other than that, the phone is pretty regular ‘dumbphone’. The press release for the phone says that they wanted to just include the three “phone basics” that a mobile phone needs, which are “Talk, Text and Time”. I’m sure that appeals to some people, but probably not the TFTS reader crowd (and certainly not this TFTS writer)
The phone also includes a 24-hour concierge service. In cities around the world, Xperia Pureness owners will be able to call the concierge at any hour and get support for ‘lifestyle requests’. As you can imagine, this service isn’t cheap, as the Xperia Pureness will set you back $990. Luxury department store Saks Fifth Avenue will be the brick-and-mortar retailer selling the phone, and it will also be sold through Sony’s VIP Shopping website. For the Maybach-driving crowd, the Xperia Pureness is now shipping. Your concierge is standing by.
