If late last month the much hailed Nokia N900 has been officially announced to ship unlocked in the US, today our TFTS ninjas have found out that the Brits are next in line to get their hands on the QWERTY slider, as Vodafone UK has listed the Maemo 5 powered smartphone on their website saying that it’s “coming soon”, with soon meaning next year in January.
Just like it’s North American counterpart, Nokia N900 is as powerful handset that runs on a “seriously fast” 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor. It brings the same 3.5-inch 16 million color TFT resistive touchscreen with 800 x 480 pixels taht we heard of, a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash and autofocus, boasts 32GB of built-in storage space (that can be expanded via a microSD card slot), Bluetooth (v2.0) and Wireless (802.11 b/g) connectivity.
Along the same lines there’s an integrated media player that supports MP3, WMA, WAV and eAAC audio files and WMV, RealVideo, MP4, AVI, XviD and DivX video. And of course the much hyped Maemo 5 OS that Nokia has developed for their smartphones and Internet tablets.
For now there’s no official word how much Vodafone UK will charge for the new Nokia N900. Guess we’ll find out in January!
