Lacie Rikiki Claims To Be The World's Most Compact On The Market

Lacie has revealed the Lacie Rikiki Portable Hard Drive, the world’s smallest 2.5″ hard drive on the market.  The Lacie Rikiki packs up to 640GB of storage into a tiny, USB 2.0 self-powered unit.

The Lacie Rikiki, which translates as “tiny” in french, is a full inch shorter than its competitor, the smallest of the SeaGate Free Agent hard drives.  Lacie has fit a 2.5″ hard drive into a 109.7×75×13.4 mm unit, which Lacie claims to be the smallest on the market.  In a world where smaller has trended to be better, this unit’s size is certainly a strong selling point.

The Lacie Rikiki portable hard drive will be available in three units, all of which share the same size specs at just under 110mm.  Rikiki will come in 250GB, 500GB and 640GB in capacity, priced at $74.99, $109 and $149 respectively.  While the roughly 4.3″ unit might be a tight squeeze into your pocket, it’s arguably the only unit on the market that has a chance of fitting.  So, is that a Lacie Rikiki in your pocket, or are you just happy to see us?
