When the Interead COOL-ER eBook reader launched this May, the company CEO told the internet that his product was the “iPod moment” for eBook readers. And now, the hip-looking eBook Readers are getting an upgrade, as they are getting 3G from AT&T and WiFi support.
The current version of the COOL-ER eBook reader comes with only connectivity through USB or SD cards, but now, Miami-based Interead is launching a new model that will support 3G connectivity from AT&T and WiFi support.
But, you can’t be the next iPod without an iTunes, and Interead has that too, with COOLER-EBOOKS.com, their instant digital download book store. While the prices aren’t as cutthroat low as the Amazon Kindle, they are a bit lower than the MSRP. Newspapers fans can relax easy as the COOL-ER will compete with the Kindle’s newspaper subscriptions via a deal with NewspapersDirect where they’ll offer over 1,300 newspapers and magazines.
The COOL-ER eBook reader feature the same 6″ e-Ink screen as the Kindle, but is a bit smaller. The internal member of the device is 1GB, but can be expanded with the aforementioned SD slot. The COOL-ER reader’s current model will set you back $250, with the 3G/WiFi model shipping sometime in mid-2010.
