Seagate Debuts Pulsar Solid State Drives Range

Seagate Pulsar SSD Officially Introduced, Release Date & Price Unconfirmed for Now

Seagate Pulsar SSD Range

One of the biggest name in the storage business, Seagate took an awful lot of time to see money in the solid state drive business. But they finally did and today the company has officially introduced their new Seagate Pulsar SSD range that boasts 3Gbps SATA speeds, offers read and write speeds of up to 240MB/s sequential read and 200 MB/s sequential write speeds.

Cramming up to 200GB of SLC flash memory inside a 2.5-inch SLC-based design, the new Seagate Pulsar SSDs have a SATA interface and some sort of power loss protection that guards you against data loss in the event of power failure, quoting a 0.44 percent AFR (average failure rate).

Billed as the first true enterprise-class SSD to ever reach the market, Seagate’s Pulsar drives has found their way to select OEMs since September (about three months ago), yet there’s no word regarding price or anything official regarding availability inside of a system or as a stand alone device.

“Seagate is optimistic about the enterprise SSD opportunity and views the product category as enabling expansion of the overall storage market for both SSDs and HDDs (hard disk drives),” Dave Mosley, Seagate’s executive vice president for sales, marketing and product line management, said in the statement. “Our strategy is to provide our customers with the exact storage device they need for any application, regardless of the component technology used.”
