Although previously reported to be released sometime in late November, the new Acer Liquid A1 has begun shipping in the UK today, with retailer Expansys and Clove announcing that they have stock for anyone who’d like to get their hands on Acer’s Android-powered smartphone that runs on Qualcomm’s super snappy Snapdragon processor
As you may already know the Acer Liquid A1 features a 3.5-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display, brings quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and triband (900/1900/2100) HSDPA support, but somehow fails to impress with the fact that the 1GHz 8250 Snapdragon processor has been underclocked to only work at 768MHz. It also packs a 5 megapixel camera, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR connectivity along with built-in GPS and a 1,300 mAh battery.
A sleek package in black and white, the Liquid A1 has failed to impress considering the processor and the fact that there’s Android 1.6 Donut to run the show, instead of the latest Android 2.0. Another thing to set us back is the hefty price tag the A1 will sell with Expansys listing the device for £339.99 (some $554 at today’s rate), while Clove has it for £328.99 ($536).
Worth it? We’ll let you be the judge of that!
