Facebook Global Advisory Board Monitors User Safety [Facebook to Improve Online Safety for Users with Help from Global Advisory Board]

Facebook is growing more and more popular and there are more and more users currently signing up for it. Just last week the company through the voice of its creator, Mark Zuckerberg, announced a new set of changes that will let you better manage your account, categories of friends and groups and your privacy.
On top of those upcoming changes, Facebook is also going to work with a Global Advisory Board in order to enhance the user safety. The Facebook Safety Advisory Board is a group of five leading Internet safety organizations coming from North America and Europe that will help Facebook improve that online safety of its users I was talking about.
The five organizations are the Common Sense Media, ConnectSafely, WiredSafety, Childnet International and The Family Online Safety Institute. Elliot Schrage, vice president of Global Communications and Public Policy at Facebook had this to say about the new initiative:
We believe that the only way to keep kids safe online is for everyone who wants to protect them to work together. The formation of a board to advise specifically on safety issues is a positive, innovative and collaborative step towards creating a more robust safety environment, and we are thrilled that such a well-respected, trusted group of organizations has joined us in this endeavor.
With online social networking sites becoming a more important part of our life it’s good to know that Facebook is taking the necessary steps in order to prevent the misuse of its services. Privacy is important to all of us and we definitely want to know that our children who will eventually use Facebook and similar online services will be protected as much as possible by online predators and other various threats.
What about you? How do you feel about Facebook and its current security and safety provisions?
