One of the hottest game of 2009 is undoubtedly Activision’s last episode of the Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 2. We talked about the game here on TFTS before and we were certainly impressed by the profits it managed to bring in.

Electronic Arts has been watching from the sidelines how a first-person shooter based on modern warfare in Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia and other parts of the world is more and more appealing to the public. Now if only they had such a game… But, wait, what do you say? They have their own first-person shooter franchise? Medal of Honor you say?

Now that you mention it I seem to vaguely remember the game and I also remember that people were waiting for a sequel for a while now. I guess that Electronic Arts have seen the potential of a game like Modern Warfare 2 and it’s now making its own version of it.

I am not saying that the new Medal of Honor version will be a copy of Modern Warfare 2 but the action in EA’s based game is going to take place in Afghanistan. Does that sound familiar in any way?

Medal of Honor will introduce a new entity, the Tier 1 Operator, a Special Forces operative that will go for those missions that “no one else can handle.” And here’s what you can expect from the game:

Set against the backdrop of a rugged and brutal Afghan landscape, Medal of Honor depicts modern military operations through the lens of a small band of fictional characters. Inspired by real events, Medal of Honor reveals the mission of today’s most elite American soldier – his will, his mindset and his uncompromising professionalism.

The game will bring a “best-in-class” single player campaign as well as a “world-class multiplayer experience.” The game is coming only in fall 2010 so there’s some waiting to be done. In the mean time you can play Modern Warfare 2 until you drop and hope that EA will release a demo of Medal of Honor as soon as humanly possible.
