ViewSonic VCP08 Windows XP Voice-enabled MID

For those of you who didn’t got the daily dose of mobile phones, here’s a little something that will blow you away. Although more specifically known for their CRT monitors, LCDs, projectors, plasma displays and HDTV technology, it looks like the folks from ViewSonic also have a thing for mobile devices as they’ve announced a MID-phone that runs Windows XP.
Dubbed ViewSonic VCP08, this voice-enabled mobile Internet device is actually a pretty darn powerful phone that features an 800MHz Intel Atom Z500 processor, has an internal 4.3-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen display, 512MB of RAM, a huge 8GB SSD for storage, WiFi connectivity and a 1,200mAh battery that we can’t tell for sure how powerful it is with XP in the back. On top of that, the VCP08 also features an external 2.0-inch display with dialing controls, an optical mouse (how cool is that) a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 2-megapixel camera, miniUSB to connect to your PC and microSD for expansion (as if 8GB wouldn’t be enough).
No official word regarding pricing and availability, but we can tell you for sure we wouldn’t mind getting our hands on the new ViewSonic VCP08 handset.
