Shenzhen HT560 Revealed

Chinese tech company Shenzhen has let loose more details on the upcoming HT560 MID, which likely won’t be available in the West anytime soon but should be a big hit in China. The MID/UMPC comes equipped with a wide 5.6-inch screen but unfortunately comes running Windows XP.
In addition to its 5.6 screen, the HT560 will come equipped with a speedy VIA c7 processor with a clockspeed of 1.0GHz, 1GB of RAM, a 16GB SSD drive (a huge 32GB SSD drive is optional), GPS, and a few USB ports and a 1.3-megapixel camera. Not a bad MID by any means, but the inclusion of a eight-year-old operating system is a bit odd. Expect a few users to install a Linux distro on it, or maybe even Chrome.
The downside is that you can only order these in a batch of 10 right now from a third-party website, and they likely won’t be localized for the West. The price hasn’t been announced, but this is definitely a cool unit. I wouldn’t mind seeing Lenovo or somebody picking this unit up and rebranding it and selling it in the US and Europe as one of theirs. But, unless that happens, any interested users need to start learning Mandarin and finding 9 friends.
