Acer Aspire 8942G Unveiled [Acer To Release World's First DX11 Notebook, Packs Core i7, 8GB DDR3]

Acer DX11 Notebook

Acer isn’t exactly a computer producer that makes high-end gaming computers. Most of their offerings are aimed at the Enterprise business user market, so when details hit today about Acer’s plans to release the world’s first DirectX 11 gaming laptop, there was some surprise.

DirectX is Microsoft’s programming interface for PC games, and the upcoming release of DirectX 11 and graphics cards that are capable of running this new cutting edge tech has gotten some excited. Usually, it takes a bit before you see such high-end devices in the notebook market.

The Acer Aspire 8942G will be a ripped gaming machine. The stats are as follows: an Intel Core i7 clocked at 1.6GHz, 8GB of DDR3 and two 640GB hard drives. Their DirectX 11 card is the ATI Radeon HD5850, which comes with a whopping 1GB of VRAM. In case all that isn’t enough for you, the Aspire 8942G even comes stocked with a Blu-Ray drive, for more HD movie viewing experience.

No details on the price or release date on this monster notebook, but Fudzilla speculates on a January release date. I would imagine this thing would easily cost in excess of $3,000. The bleeding edge isn’t cheap.
