LG eXpo Unveiled

LG and AT&T announced today that they were bringing the first smartphone packing a 1GHz CPU to the United States today. The LP eXpo will be aimed at the business market and features an optional DLP projector that attaches to the back of the phone.
The LG eXpo is packed with features, like a 3″ touch screen, a slider design with QWERTY keyboard, A-GPS, a 5-megapixel camera and a microSD slot. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view), the phone is running Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional. The eXpo features LG’s “Smart Sensor” technology, which allows you to lock and unlock your phone via fingerprint recognition.
The real appeal here is the detachable DLP projector, which will sell separately from the phone, which has a range of 8-feet. There isn’t any comment on the battery life, but with a 1GHz processor and a projector, it likely will leave more to be desired. The phone will run on AT&T 3G network, being boosted by AT&T HSPA high-speed protocol.
The phone will cost you $200 (with a $100 rebate – so really $300), and that includes a two-year minimum plan commitment (with a monthly fee of $70 or higher required – not really out of the question with voice + data on AT&T). The phone will be shipping soon on December 7th. The DLP projector will set you back another $180 and will come out ‘weeks’ after the phone’s release.
