ASUS ROG Maximus III Extreme Lets You Overclock Via Phones

Overclocking your computer hardware is a dangerous game of constantly monitoring voltages and temperatures and praying that you don’t turn your $1000 Core i7 processor into a brick, but now, ASUS, who has always offered overclocker-friendly motherboards, now has a new offering for the OC crowd – the ability to change and monitor settings via Bluetooth.
The ASUS ROG Maximus 3 Extreme is another new motherboard from ASUS in their high-end Maximus line, and continues their ROG (Republic of Gamers) feature, that allows you to remotely change your motherboard’s settings via Bluetooth.
Earlier ROG-equipped motherboards allowed you to change settings via a USB cable (ideally through a notebook computer located near your uber-desktop). The upcoming Maximus III Extreme takes it a step further and lets you monitor and change your BIOS settings via a mobile phone.
The mobile application that will be used to change your settings will be out for Windows Mobile, Android and Symbian phones. The iPhone app is reportedly stuck in Apple’s horrific manhood trials controversialĀ app approval process. The rest of the motherboard is a packed high-end board, with such offerings as SATA 6G, USB 3.0, DDR3, and support for Intel’s i5 and i7 processors.
ASUS previously showed off the motherboard at DreamHack Winter, a LAN gaming event, this past week. No comment on pricing or a release date, but expect this thing to go for $400+.
