Goind Dutch with Credit Cards Easier Than Ever

A few days ago I showed you a totally inspiring credit card concept, the Live Checking Card, which should, at least in theory, take care of all your credit card related needs. While the Live Checking Card might not be available anytime soon, the Piece of Cake concept I just found sounds like a more feasible gadget.

So what’s the Piece of Cake you ask? Well that’s really simple. As you can see it’s a round object that could be placed on any restaurant or coffee shop table. It actually resembles a cut cake but you it’s a machine that helps you and your friends share the check. Going Dutch has never been easier before, at least not when everyone wants to use plastic to pay.

The Piece of Cake comes with the necessary space to slide your card through and up to eight people can share a check. The device will surprise you with a touch-friendly interface which lets you select the way you want to pay for dinner. One could pay for everything or share the check with everyone else at the table.

The notion of “going Dutch” isn’t entirely true as every person will pay for what they ate and drank. As you can see you won’t pay an equal share of the total and I know at least a few people that would be interested in such a device. Best of all, the math part is totally being taken care of by the Piece of Cake so at the end of the meal you can simply slide the credit card, select what you ate and drank and pay for it accordingly. I wonder if the tip is included, but since you using plastic to pay I will assume it is.

There’s no telling when the Piece of Cake concept would be available but I’m guessing that it should happen at some point in the near future. After all, we keep using a lot more plastic than paper these days.
