Call of Duty Passes Over $3 Billion in Sales [Modern Warfare 2 Nets $550 Million in First Five Days]

I don’t know about you but I am certainly amazed with what Activision managed to do with that Call of Duty franchise. The last game of the series, one which we’ve already seen here at TFTS earlier this month, Modern Warfare 2, has brought in over $550 million in the first five days.
That number is certainly impressive and the game might just be the most popular title sold this quarter if not the most popular game of the year.
The sequel of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Modern Warefare 2 continues the story and you’re going to try, yet again, to save the world from unavoidable disaster. First person shooters aren’t just anybody’s favorite piece of cake but Modern Warfare 2 is definitely a game worth trying out. Sure the single player missions are pretty easy to accomplish and the game ends rather abruptedly but that doesn’t make it less impressive.
The multiplayer mode and the Special Ops missions are what make the game even more fun to play. You can challenge your friends and go through various missions and multiple multiplayer combat scenarios together. But you knew all that, didn’t you?
What you didn’t know is that Activision cashed in big time on the whole Call of Duty franchise. The company sold over 55 million copies of Call of Duty version across various platforms to date and the franchise netted over $3 billion in sales. That’s shopping frenzy will not stop especially with Christmas coming. The game is available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 which means Santa will be busy this year delivering all those Modern Warfare 2 presents to eager gamers.
The only thing that could hit Modern Warfare 2 at this point is probably Starcraft 2. But that game isn’t available so far, is it Santa?
