Stantum Slate PC is amazing [Stantum Japan Shows Off Multi-Touch Tablet Prototype]

stantum touch tech demo

Stantum Japan was showing off their new ‘Voltage Matrix’ technology. Stantum, which manufactures touch screens, developed this amazing new technology and hopes to get it in on future tablets, netbooks and other things with a use of touchscreens.

The new Stantum technology is reportedly much more responsive and sensitive than previous touch-screen tech. It will support upto 10-points on the screen (with high resolution and accuracy) and you can use any sort of point, no matter if its your fingertip or a stylus or anything in between (the video impressively shows a paint brush).

According to the power point slides show by Stantum, their new touch-screen technology beats the conventional touch screen tech (featured in the iPhone)  in several ways. It works with a finger or stylus, and can respond to different degrees of pressure. They claim it has a faster response time, and generally lower power consumption, along with a lack of interference from outside environmental influences.

Stantum will be offering the screen sizes to hardware developers in 2.5″ to 30″ screens, with no word on avability. Keep in mind that even if Stantum finished the technology tomorrow, hardware engineers would first have to develop devices with the screens, and then software engineers would have write software for the screens, so we could very well be years away from seeing this awesome touchscreen tech in any of our devices anytime soon.
