Kohjinsha Dual Screen DZ Series Laptops Shipping Soon

Kohjinsha, a Japanese PC manufacturer, has taken the cover off of its DZ series notebooks, which will feature dual 10″ screens. The second screen is ‘hidden’ behind the first when the laptop is closed. The notebook will be sold worldwide (yes, even shipping to the US and Europe) for 95,800 yen (roughly $1,100).
The laptop’s form factor makes it extremely similar to a netbook, although Kohjinsha isn’t representing it like that. The screens are both 10″, with a maximum resolution of 1024×600. It features an AMD Athlon Neo processor, clocked at 1.60GHz, and comes with only 1 GB of RAM. Other features include a built-in webcam and a over-the-air TV tuner that only works in Japan. It comes with your choice of a Linux OS Pack (presumably, more than one OS) or Windows 7.
Even though this thing is shipping outside of Japan, I’m not sure how many people should consider buying it, considering it’s highly localized for Japan, and it doesn’t stop with the TV tuner. The keyboard is the standard Japanese set and the operating systems are likely in Japanese as well. The Kohjinsha DZ features a reported 4.5 hour battery life, as well.
The Kohjinsha DZ series notebooks/netbooks will start shipping worldwide in three weeks. Additional charges will be applied if shipping to the US or Europe.
