Buffalo have confirmed that their first SuperSpeed USB 3.0 external storage solution, the DriveStation HD-HXU3, is now available making it the first USB 3.0 external hard drive to commence shipping.

Offering data transfer speeds of up to 625MB/s (5 Gbits per second), the USB 3.0 Buffalo DriveStation HD-HXU3 is billed as being ideally suited for those looking for an external storage solution for the backup of high-resolution graphics, digital audio/video, large multimedia files and photos and, aside from coming in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB capacities, retains USB 2.0 compatibility – though the drive does come bundled with a PC/Mac compatible two-port USB 3.0 PCI Express Interface Card (IFC-PCIE2U3) which will allow you to harness the immediate speed benefits on offer here.

The Buffalo DriveStation HD-HXU3 will set you back $199.99 for 1TB capacity version (HD-HX1.0TU3), $249.99 for 1.5TB capacity model (HD-HX1.5TU3) and $399.99 for 2.0TB touting drive (HD-HX2.0TU3).
