Apple iPod Touch with Camera Available This Spring? [Camera Touting iPod Touch To Sport Nano’s Camera, Apparently]

If you recall, Apple were purportedly set to offer up an upgraded iPod Touch back in September but the camera touting iPod Touch never actually materialised though Apple had arranged the new iPod Touch’s components in a manner as to allow the embedding of the rumoured camera hardware – but now it seems that an iPod Touch compete with camera is set to hit this Spring, if as yet unsubstantiated reports are to be believed.

Seemingly now happy that the apparent quality issues that saw the last iteration of the iPod Touch loose its potential camera functionality, the new iPod Touch 3G is said to fall back on the same camera unit as is presently utilised in the new Nano – which means that, in terms of quality, it’ll fall short of the camera offered in the new iPhone (especially the iPhone 3GS). If this rings true it would be a shame as, and perhaps its just me, the iPod Touch deserves better than this, not least because it’s a more expensive and otherwise much more fully featured device. We’ll be crossing our fingers that it won’t be the same camera as used in the Nano and I suspect we’ll not be alone in this respect.

As mentioned above there’s no official word from Apple concerning the rumoured iPod Touch with integrated camera but, having already made the required space for it, its hardly a matter of whether we’ll actually see a camera touting Touch, it more like when (and that when is Spring 2010, so we’re told).

We’ll be keeping our ears to the ground.
