DriveSafe.ly Mobile App Gains 1 Million Users

If you’re looking for a safe way to receive and access text messages on your mobile whilst driving you may already have installed the DriveSafe.ly App – its gained one million users already since its release seven weeks ago after all – but, if you haven’t (perhaps you haven’t come across it yet) the good news is that aside from potentially saving you from an accident, the DriveSafe.ly App is free (if safety concerns are not incentive enough the requirement for no financial outlay whatsoever should help sway you – though a paid version is also up for grabs).
Just nominated for the prestigious 2009 Mashable Open Web Award for Best Mobile App, the free DriveSafe.ly App facilitates the reading of received text messages in real-time, thanks to utalising iSpeech.org’s text to speech software as a service (SaaS), without you having to intervene (aka its handsfree) and even offers an integrated customisable auto-responder allowing the app to text back to advise that you’re currently on the road so are presently unable to reply to any received SMS.
“DriveSafe.ly is taking off because people want to stay connected while they drive, and do it in a safe way” says Heath Ahrens, CEO of iSpeech and creator of DriveSafe.ly. “I recommend that everyone install DriveSafe.ly, not because I work for the company behind it, but because I actually use it and it stops texting while driving.”

You can obtain further details concerning the free DriveSafe.ly Mobile App (there’s also Drivesafe.ly Pro, which isn’t free, incidentally), which is available in the US for the iPhone (jailbroken only for now, it appears) as well as BlackBerry, Android and Windows Mobile handsets, via the official DriveSafe.ly website.
