I know you are looking for a brand new LCD HDTV to watch all those Christmas old movies and that’s why I have looked everywhere for a couple of new sets for you. And what I found looks certainly impressive. Sure they’re not comparable to Philips’ Cinema 21:9 HDTV but they’re very interesting. I am talking about the ’40PFL9704′ and ’46PFL9704′, two new additions to Philips’s LED HDTV lineup.

These new LED-backlit LCD HDTVs feature Philips’ next generation of LED backlighting technology. They are part of the “LED Pro” HDTV line and they feature a lot of LED segments. In fact the number has increased by 74% which means each LED segment is responsible for lighting a smaller part of the display. That way the resulting picture will be a lot better.

So let’s take a look at the specs of those two HDTVs from the new 9000 LED Pro Series line. Both the 46-inch 46PFL9704 and the 40-inch 40PFL9704 will offer you the following specs:

  • Aspect ratio: widescreen
  • Brightness: 500 cd/m2
  • Dynamic screen contrast: 5,000,000:1
  • Response time: 1ms
  • Contrast ratio: 2.5x
  • Viewing angle: 176º
  • Resolution: 1,920 x 1,080
  • Refresh rate: 200MHz
  • 4 built-in speakers
  • Ethernet, USB, Wi-Fi connectivity
  • 5 HDMI ports
  • DLNA 1.0 support
  • Power consumption: 104W

Features like Philips’ Perfect Color technology and the Ambilight Spectra 3 technology are definitely going to improve your TV watching experience. Perfect Color brings you 2,250 trillion colors while the Ambilight Spectra 3 makes sure that the dominant colors on the screen will create a dazzling glow around the TV. Like I said, those LED Pro HDTVs from Philips could be a great addition to your living room this Christmas.

The 40-inch model will be priced at £1,799 while the 46-inch will cost £2,499 in December when they become available in stores. So what do you think? Did I find some cool HDTVs for you or what? Do you plan to buy one already?
