Leica M9 Now Available to Order From B&H [Leica M9 Rangefinder Digital Camera Yours for $7K]

Leica M9 Rangefinder Digital Camera

Back in September Alex gave you an initial heads up concerning the beautifully retro styled Leica M9 Rangefinder Digital Camera and now two months down the line the Leica M9 is now available to order from B&H in the US.

For those yet to be acquainted with the Leica M9 Rangefinder camera the device sports an 18 megapixel full frame 35mm (actually 24 x 36mm) CCD sensor whilst (the M9 has the distinction of being the world’s first full-frame, 35mm digital rangefinder camera, incidentally) whilst offering 14-bit bit depth and a 1x crop factor along with supporting M-Mount lenses, offering sensitivities up to 2500 ISO, a 2fps burst capability and up to 1/4000 shutter speed.

On the rear of the Leica M9 Rangefinder you’ll find a 2.5” LCD whilst, in terms of storage, the M9 relies on SD/SDHC memory cards.

The Leica M9 Rangefinder digital camera is an undoubted beauty, there’s no doubt about it, and it’s a camera that any discerning photographer would probably yearn to add to their camera bag but, as with all things of such beauty, there’s a catch (isn’t there always?) – that being that the price of admission into this particularly special club will set you back just shy of a cool $7,000 (specifically $6,995).

I’d love one, truly, but having just forked out for two of Canon’s L lenses and the EOS 7D I won’t push my luck any further with her indoors (well, not just yet, anyhow).
