Verizon Samsung Omnia II Availability Confirmed

Verizon Wireless are doing everything humanly possible to rake in the best smartphone carrier title for this year. Although officially introduced in North America last month by Bell, it looks like Big Red is also interested in carrying their own version of the new Samsung Omnia II, with the handset debuting on their network weeks ahead of Christmas — around December 2nd,”in all channels” (telesales, online, and in-store).
The first thing to appreciate about the new Verizon Samsung Omnia II is that it won’t cost anything close to Amazon’s $999 pre-order price if you agree to sign a two year contract with Big Red. That will get you the attractive handset for only $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate.
Speaking of attractiveness, the Omnia II sports a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display, 8GB of built-in memory, a microSD card slot to expand that (up to 32GB), a 5 megapixel camera, a 3.5mm audio jack, GPS receiver with A-GPS and an accelerometer. On top of that, rumors that the handset will run WinMo6.1 has been shredded, as the new Verizon Samsung Omnia II comes bundled with Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional.
