Barnes & Noble Nook eReader Sells Out Ahead of the Holidays

If you wanted to get your hands on a Barnes & Noble Nook eBook reader but didn’t order one yet and decided to get a better price during the holiday season, we have some bad news. Apparently the pre-orders for the Nook have exceeded all expectations (who would’ve thought) and the Kindle-competitor has now run out of stock with forthcoming models being promised to ship only next year, around January 4th.
Although the Nook is an interesting device to go with, what’s interesting is that although a month after it got official, Barnes & Noble never released what was the production run, so we can’t tell for sure if the reason why it has sold out it’s because of the staggering demand or because they only had a couple of hundred pieces up.
For those who don’t know it yet, the new Barnes & Noble Nook only weighs 11.2 ounces, has two screens, a 6-inch grayscale e-ink display and a 3.5-inch color touchscreen under the main screen, 2GB of built-in memory good for about 1,500 eBooks, a microSD card slot (16GB max), a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack and an MP3 player. Of course there’s also Wi-Fi (b/g) connectivity, AT&T 3G support and a powerful battery to get the eye with, but the thing that makes the Nook stand out is that it allows you to make notes, highlight certain passages and setup personal screen savers.
So guys, how about giving us some Nook? We’re into it!
