AT&T’s Injunction Against Verizon Gets Denied [AT&T Responds with “The Truth About 3G” Ads]

Oh boy, how do I explain all this to you folks? I don’t know whether to start with the serious stuff or with the pathetic lame new AT&T ad campaign.
Yes, AT&T, I get it, and probably everyone else does! Verizon’s “There’s a Map for That” campaign doesn’t do you much justice but you have to understand that there’s a truth for that. Whenever an AT&T user goes experiences a dropped call in an area where 3G should work at its best, he or she could think about switching carriers, especially after seeing those ads. But Verizon doesn’t have some 20 million iPhone users clogging the network with their data traffic and that’s why Big Red started all this in the first place. Verizon would desperately trade places with you if given the chance. So don’t play the victim here and start putting more effort into your 3G network, AT&T! That way regular Joes won’t be able to complain about dropped calls and Verizon’s ads won’t hurt anymore.
AT&T’s ad campaign, “The Truth About 3G” stars Luke Wilson. He shows us why AT&T’s 3G network is much better than Verizon and the whole ad concept sucks. Sure AT&T offers you speed, the best smartphone selection, simultaneous voice and data and access to over 100,000 apps. But is this really the way you want to answer to Verizon? Microsoft wasn’t successful at stopping Apple’s nasty ads so what makes you think you will succeed?
Even the law said that Verizon’s commercials aren’t misleading. Sure they could be misunderstood but they aren’t misleading at all. All hope is not lost despite the fact that AT&T’s injunction against Verizon was denied in court. AT&T’s lawyers are preparing for a special hearing that’s going to take place on December 16. That’s when they hope that the initial verdict will be overruled.
What do you say folks? Were you fooled into thinking that AT&T doesn’t have any coverage at all in those areas where 3G coverage isn’t available? Or did you have a good laugh and moved on with your life? In any case, we’ll be following closely this fight between giants for you. Something tells me we haven’t seen the best of it yet.
