Aptera 2e Electric Car Gets Delayed [Aptera 2e Electric Vehicle to Enter Production Only in 2010]

Are you ready for an electric vehicle in your life? If you’re not interested that much in the Tesla, although they do have some pretty interesting models, you can always go for an Aptera 2e. The car looks like an airplane that’s pissed off about leaving home without its wings again, but that doesn’t mean it won’t offer you a great driving experience.

Unfortunately for all those drivers willing to switch from petrol to electricity, the Aptera 2e is not coming out this year as initially planned. In fact the electric vehicle has been delayed and it will enter production only at some point next year.

The problem is money of course as electric cars are fairly expensive to develop. Aptera has received consistent funding from companies like Google and IdeaLab and more private and public backers are also going to help out. 4,000 people have already placed pre-order deposits but all that cash that Aptera received so far is not enough to start production. All those customers that have pre-ordered the car will have to wait until next year to get it. Their deposits are refundable although if I were one of them I’d rather wait for Aptera to deliver my electric car even at a later date than expected.

So what does the Aptera 2e have to offer? Well we’ve seen already that we’re talking about a very aerodynamic car, a feature which should contribute significantly to the overall performance of the vehicle. The Aptera 2e is a three-wheel two-seater that can go from 0 to 60 mph in just under 10 seconds and can reach top speeds of 90 mph. The car will offer you a 200-plus mpg autonomy which is not bad considering our daily needs. For longer trips you’ll have to consider different means of transportation or get used to making frequent pit stops required to charge those batteries.

But let’s not make any Aptera-related plans for now. We’ll be waiting for the company to raise the necessary funds and if all goes well we’re going to announce the beginning of Aptera 2e production at some point next year.
