WebOS 1.3.1 Firmware for Palm Pre Available Now [WebOS Update Released, Palm Pre iTunes Syncing Not Restored]

Following on from advising our US based readers that the Palm Pixi is now available via Sprint (see: Palm Pixi Available Now via Sprint [Palm Pixi WebOS Phone Hits Sprint: Pixi Yours For Under $100]) we continue with the Palm related news in confirming that the WebOS 1.3.1 Firmware for Palm Pre is also now available.

WebOS 1.3.1 Firmware brings a host of enhancements to your Palm Pre but, alas, if you were expecting the restoration of iTunes syncing to be one of them you’ll be sorely disappointed – but that really ought not to come as any major surprise if you’ve been following events closely (see: iTunes & Palm Pre Syncing Update: In Short, Forget it [USB Implementers Forum Wades In, Palm Left Red Faced]).

In terms of what the WebOS 1.3.1 does actually offer you’re looking at Yahoo syncing (with Yahoo contacts, calendar and Synergy) as well Yahoo IM being made available as an instant messaging account, introducing the ability to watch widescreen video content in widescreen mode and a number of enhancements to the Palm Pre’s messaging capabilities such as improved formatting of forwarded messages and copy functionality.
