AT&T to Debut Bold 9700, Curve 8520 & Shine II

AT&T is Taking on Verizon With New Handsets, Release Date Set for Nov 22

In an effort to take on Verizon Wireless, today, the folks from AT&T have updated their catalog with the Blackberry Bold 9700, the new BlackBerry Curve 8520 (obsoleting the earlier 8300 series from the same carrier) and the new LG Shine II.

Virtually the same Curve 8520 that T-Mobile has released, on AT&T it lacks 3G support, uses a simpler 320×240 display and a 2 megapixel camera, but keeps the built-in GPS and the Wi-Fi connectivity — although there’s no sign of Wi-Fi calling. All these must be the reason why AT&T has managed to sell it for $30 less than T-Mobile, having the BlackBerry Curve 8520 in stores for $100.

Together with the Curve 8520, AT&T is also releasing the new BlackBerry Bold 9700. It will have 3G support, a crisp 480×360 display, a 3.2 megapixel camera, but has Wi-Fi calling disabled. The Bold 9700 should cost $199 on AT&T.

Launching on the same day, is the LG Shine II, a stainless steel fashion slider. The handset boasts 7.2 Mbps 3G support along with multitasking support, a 2 megapixel camera and assisted GPS through AT&T’s Navigator service. The Shine II will be priced at $120 with contract.

All three handsets are going to be available starting November 22.

Certainly better than suing left and right. No?
