By way of a brief heads up, YouTube have today officially confirmed that they are to offer Full HD (1080p) support, up from the already supported 720p, as from next week in a bid to “make sure YouTube is the best home on the web to showcase your content”.

The move to support Full HD, as is already supported by sites such as SmugMug, will see an updated interface allowing users to chose between 720p and 1080p HD resolutions and the good news if you’ve recently uploaded 1080p content to YouTube is that they have also confirmed that they are already working to re-encode your videos to take advantage of the up and coming Full HD support.
