Garmin Nuvifone M20 Gets Windows Mobile 6.5 Upgrade

Nuvifone M20 Users Eligible to Free Upgrade, No Luck for G60 Buyers

Garmin Nuvifone M20

Officially announced at the Mobile World Congress back in February, the tiny Garmin Nuvifone M20 has made its debut in stores this summer running Windows Mobile 6.1. Time has passed and the handset which was slated as the “GPS that can make phone calls” has now been upgraded to run the newly introduced Windows Mobile 6.5, with all M20 owners eligible for a free upgrade.

Just in case you don’t remember it, the Garmin-Asus Nuvifone M20 stuffs a nice and bright 2.8-inch VGA (640×480) touchscreen display, boasts Bluetooth, WiFi and Quad-band HSDPA 3G connectivity, adds an accelerometer, a microSD card slot to upgrade the 4/8 GB of on-board storage, a 3 megapixel camera, comes pre-loaded with regional maps and features a location-based social tool, callled Ciao!

The new Garmin Nuvifone M20 with WinMo 6.5 will become available in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic, Turkey before the year’s end. The biggest drawback is that Western Europe and the United States may have to wait until the upgrade is rolled out their way.
