New iPhone Nano Set For Release Q3 2010?

Verizon to Release iPhone Nano Next Year - Agreement Already in Place, Says Report

iPhone and Mock iPhone Nano

Having only just offered you confirmation that O2 are to allow users to unlock their iPhones in the UK once their contracts expire we move swiftly on to news concerning Apple’s much speculated upon iPhone Nano as a new report, which follows on from other indications as reported previously on TFTS (see Verizon iPhone Coming in Q3 2010? [Report Suggests that Hybrid UMTS/CDMA iPhone Is in the Making]), suggests that its set to hit retail (specifically with Verizon) by the third quarter of next year.

According to information from OTR Global passed to Apple Insider, duly credited at the bottom of this post, it seems that the new, more compact iPhone Nano, which reportedly comes with a 2.8” touchscreen display (reduced from the 3.5” display currently seen on the present iPhone models) is set to be assembled by Pegatron, a subsidiary of Asustek, rather than Hon Hai (who assemble the currently available iPhone) and, interestingly, according to the report, an agreement between Apple and Verizon to sell the new iPhone Nano (which is said to offer CDMA2000 network compatibility as well as UMTS 3G compatibility – the former allowing the new iPhone Nano to be used on Verizon’s network (the current iPhone is incompatible in this respect)) sometime in Q3 2010 is already signed, done and dusted though worldwide distribution details remain somewhat hazy.

As with previous iPhone models, we expect information to leak out in a somewhat staggered fashion and we will, of course, try to keep you in the loop whilst not excessively falling back on mere rumours.
