New Apple Core i5 IMacs Confirmed as Shipping [First Apple Quad Core iMacs To Ship within the Week?]

Apple Core i5 IMac

If you’ve already placed your order, or have been intending to place an order for Apple’s first ever Quad Core iMac sometime soon, you’ll be pleased to know Apple are now stating that their Core i5 iMacs are now ‘prepared for shipping’ – though, as yet, no actual specific shipping date has been provided.

Apple Core i5 IMac detail

Assumedly set to commence shipping as of this week according to numerous reports, the 27” iMac, which boasts a 2560 x 1440 resolution display, is offered with a choice of 2.66GHz Core i5 or 2.8GHz Core i7 processors, between 4GB and 8GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM, either 1TB or 2TB capacity SATA HDD with pricing starting from just shy of $2,000.

Interestingly, whilst confirming that the new Quad Core iMac is ‘prepared for shipping’ Apple have also acted to advise that those ordering (specifically the 27”) new Core 2 Duo iMac are now facing a delay in shipping ranging between seven to ten business days, we’re assuming due to demand somewhat outstripping supply (though Apple have not offered an official reason for the delayed shipments).

Screen resolution is 2560×1440 not 1560×1440 as reported in this article

Nice to hear they’re shipping. You got the screen resolution very far off though — the 27″ imacs have a screen res of 2560 x 1440 (which is a heck of a lot higher than 1560 x 1440)
