If Apple really wanted to "think differently" they would make the next iPhone come unlocked and compatible with all four carriers (and possibly Cricket, MetroPCS, etc). I'll bet this could be done. Just buy your iPhone, pop in a SIM (if needed), and go. Buy your iPhone at Apple, $299 for the 16GB, $399 for 32GB, and $499 for 64GB...no fixed carrier, but support CDMA and GSM standards.
