AT&T to Launch $99 8GB iPhone 3GS Soon? [AT&T Rumored to Prepare 8GB iPhone 3GS in Response to the Verizon’s Droid Madness]

It is the 6th of November already and all the madness around the Droid seems to be gone. I wrote so much about the phone that I can hardly think of anything that’s left untold so far. Verizon has a real winner here which has been analyzed and scrutinized from every point of view everywhere around the Internets. Whether we like it or not, the Droid will sell very well at least in the first few days. And if everything goes well and the users like the Droid experience then we can probably expect even more Droid smartphones to be sold in large numbers in the following months too.
So today is a Droid day and we should probably talk about how the Droid is doing out there in the field, right? Well we’re going to let Verizon’s employees do their jobs and we’ll turn our heads at least for a second to the competition. What is everyone else doing while Verizon is celebrating the Droid and the Droid Eris?
AT&T seems to be the most affected carrier by the sudden appearance of a phone that can fight against its iPhone. And AT&T seems certainly interested in going against Verizon. We’ve seen AT&T file a lawsuit against Verizon just the other day and now the carrier is thinking about a counter attack on Verizon’s hot Droid offers.
An 8GB iPhone 3GS has emerged and everybody is talking about this new rumor. AT&T should launch the phone later this year although there are no confirmed launch dates yet. The phone will replace the current 8GB iPhone 3G and should sell for $99 with a 2-year contract. In other words the 8GB iPhone 3GS is AT&T’s response to Verizon’s new HTC Droid Eris. Sure the phones are not exactly equal but you would be paying the same amount of cash for any of them while having to sign a new 2-year contract with either AT&T or Verizon. The iPhone 3GS offers 8GB of memory storage space while the HTC Droid Eris will come with a default 8GB microSD card. Not to mention all the other similarities in specs and features. The iPhone has a slight advantage over both Droids as Apple has an enormous App Store filled with content for the iPhone. The Android Market on the other hand still needs to grow.
When it comes down to selecting one of them what will you choose? The HTC Droid Eris or the rumored 8GB iPhone 3GS? Mind you that this 8GB iPhone 3GS version hasn’t been confirmed yet and no other carrier in the world is talking about it.
