MSI Wind U230 Ultraportable Announced

MSI have managed to get our attention by upgrading their ultraportable collection with the new MSI Wind U230 that features an AMD 1.6GHz Neo X2 MV40 processor under the hood, instead of the regular low-voltage Atom processors we’ve been used with. Other than ditching the low performance CPUs, the device gets an AMD Radeon HD3200 graphics card (1366 x 768 resolution), up to 4GB of RAM and up to 320GB hard-drives.

An updated version to the older MSI Wind 210, the new U230 ultraportable comes with a 12.1-inch LCD screen, uses Windows 7 Home Premium instead of Vista, has both VGA and HDMI output, USB 2.0 and an Ethernet ports. There’s also in/out audio, a multiformat card reader, Wi-Fi (b/g/n) connectivity and optional Bluetooth to play with. More to it there’s a 1.3 megapixel webcam and a three-cell battery (optional a 6-cell battery) that delivers enough juice for up to four hours of work.
There’s no official word concerning price or availability, but considering that the older model sells with a MSRP of $430 we can assume that the new MSI Wind U230 ultraportable will sell close to $450.
