samsung omnia ii 2010 olympic winter games

In a mobile world where Android is currently king when it comes to new releases, we have the pleasure to announce that the Samsung Omnia II has become official in Canada. Bell has decided to make Samsung’s Windows Mobile 6.5 phone the official mobile device of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Bell is the official carrier of this sporting event and it has a brand new nationwide HSPA+ network to support that position. Anyone travelling to Canada will be able to enjoy fast mobile connection provided they are willing to pay the roaming fees when they get back home. Canadians are the real winners as Bell will be trying to come up with as many GSM hot phones as possible in the very near future. Besides the iPhone, which is going to be available from Bell stores too, the Omnia II is an impressive addition to its lineup.

The Omnia II will be the official phone of the competition and it will come bundled with various Olympic Winter Games content. Samsung will make available for each Omnia II handset a special communications platform, the Wireless Olympic Works also known as the WOW which will bring you all the Olympic-related content you want while keeping you connected with other fans through the games.

So what will the Samsung Omnia II offer you? Here are some of its main features:

– Bluetooth v2.0 and WiFi connectivity
– HTML web browsing with Opera Mobile 9.5 Browser
– World’s largest (3.7 inch/94mm) WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display with accelerometer
– Finger friendly TouchWiz(TM) touch-optimized User Interface
– DVD-quality (480p) video recording/playback
– 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and dual LED flash
– The ability to manage documents with applications such as Power Point,Word or Excel
– Memory expandable to 48 gigabytes

This new Windows Mobile 6.5 phone will also run Samsung TouchWiz user interface which will bring all the widgets you crave straight to your mobile phone.

Bell hasn’t announced any pricing details and arrival dates but the Omnia II is expected to arrive sometime next month. The Olympic Games will take place from February 12-28 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, but Bell will probably want to sell the phone just in time for Christmas.
